Let's go to the movies

Outfit Details:

dress - H&M (aka the Michelle Obama dress), necklace - Forever 21, belt - Costa Blanca, shoes - Joe Fresh

Maya had her first movie-theatre-movie experience this weekend. We took her to the new Winnie the Pooh movie. She was so excited, from the moment we entered the theatre to getting her popcorn to finding our seats. She sat happily in her seat, with her blue slushie and kid sized popcorn, and I don't believe she blinked for the whole show. While the 1 hr movie length was perfect for her... it was just a tad too long for mommy and daddy. Every other kids movie (ie: Cars, Toy Story, Shrek, etc) has something funny and redeeming to keep the parents interested, but this movie was D.U.L.L. DH even fell asleep as some point. Still, Maya had a ball and declared it the best movie she'd ever seen.

That morning, I wasn't in the mood to think about choosing my outfit for the matinee, so I opened my closet door and asked Maya to pick something. She zoomed right in on this floaty polka-dot dress, and the "little girl" necklace. Since the movie was for 2pm in the afternoon, I didn't want to look too dressed up. So I swapped out the bright tangerine sash for a more subtle cognac belt. The outfit probably could've used a touch of colour, but overall, I was pretty happy with the look. Maybe I should let Maya pick out my clothes more often!

Awwe, what a cute story! I love this outfit and I think the belt is perfect with it. Maya is a real little fashionista :)

I agree, totally cute story! Sounds like a fantastic first movie experience...for her at least! ;)

We took our kids to see Mr. Popper's Penguins this weekend and I think my husband loved it even more than the kids!

Winnie the pooh! My fave Disney character. I would have watched it all the way through too...hehe. Your daughter has styled you nicely- such a cute dress. I would have picked it for you too!

@carly - Thanks! She certainly is a fashionista. I can no longer choose outfits for her anymore... although her idea of matching is a rainbow striped top, with a another rainbow striped skirt. Somehow she makes it work!

@whenlifehandsyouapear - Kids movies can be pretty awesome. I'm excited about the new Muppets movie coming out. We'll definitely be taking Maya to that one!

@j'aime shopping/A Stylized Hysteria - Thanks so much! When my friends see Maya's obsession with shoes (she'll buy shoes over toys!), they laugh that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

@Dee - Thanks! Looking at the pictures, it's so pretty... I don't know why I don't wear this dress more often.

@Carolyn - Thanks! I <3 this belt so much

@vintageglamnz - Aw thanks! I should let her pick out my outfits more often!
