California Dreams

Outfit Details:

top - Anthropologie Sudden Downpour top, jacket - Forever 21, jeans - Gap, shoes - Dolce Vita Pela, necklace - Joe Fresh

Last Thursday, a friend of ours scored his company's executive suite (box) for the Katy Perry concert in Toronto. They took their two daughters who invited two friends each, and also a couple of their own friends (parents of the kids invited). Since DH would rather die a slow and torturous death than go to the Katy Perry concert, he stayed home with Maya while I went.

I must say that I enjoyed it... a lot! It was quite a performance with fireworks, cirque de soleil style acrobatics and Katy Perry floating to the middle of the audience on a fluffy cotton candy cloud. Plus, we ordered a couple bottles of wine for the adult non-designated drivers...

I did stress the evening before on what I should wear. (Ya, I don't get out much). I wanted something that was fun and didn't scream "given-up soccer mom", but also didn't come across as "I'm trying to look like a teen and failing miserably". So something that looked cute, effortless, yet sophisticated and modern. In the end I went with my awesome Dolce Vita pela wedges (heart these so much), skinny jeans, a fun top and the striped blazer I'd been dying to break out.

I'm not much of a music person so I always have a hard time stressing over what to wear to concerts too! I think you look great, fun but still adult-like, if that makes any sense :) It took me awhile to warm up to Katy Perry (loving Firework right now!), so I'm glad you had a great time.

We recently got the Katy Perry album. I must say, I'm not a massive fan of pop music, but the songs are very catchy! Not sure about that 'peacock' song though...

@Cee - I'm glad I'm not the only one who stresses over what to wear to a concert. This is only the 2nd one I've been to in about... 6 years?

@KDot - Thanks! It's because of you that I even knew about Joe Fresh jewelry. Now I have quite a few necklaces from there.

@vintageglamz - I totally agree... while they might not be timeless works of art, they are fun and catchy. The peacock song in concert shocked me though. She implies something with her mic that could be peacock-like (she wears a peacock tail) or could be something else. Considering how many of her audience were pre-teens and teen girls, I was a little stunned. My group had pre-teen girls from ages 9-12, but luckily, the reference went right over their heads. LOL

That jacket is fabulous! Glad you had fun at the concert. I would have probably needed wine too to get through Katy Perry!
