I love to be blue

Outfit Details:

top - H&M, skirt - Anthropologie, belt - Forever 21, shoes - Aldo, scarf - Stylesense

I'm sure it's apparent from my blog, but my favourite colour to wear is blue. If presented with two colour choices, a shade of blue and otherwise, I will almost always gravitate towards blue. I find the colour to be serene and calming and happy (brings to mind blue skies, oceans, my birthstone). I actually struggle against filling my wardrobe with so much blue.

That said, I also love to dress in tone on tone outfits. It's a brainless way to look effortlessly chic. Besides neutrals like black, grey, taupe/brown (blah on me), white (makes me feel like a chunky monkey)... blue is one of the easiest to pull off.

On the other hand, scarves are something that I find truly difficult to wear. I like them, but I tend to reach for statement necklaces to complete my outfits. I was drawn to this scarf because of its softness and pretty pattern. It also garnered a rare compliment from DH the first time I wore it.

Not sure if I'm loving the shoe choice, but these babies have 4 buckles and I was too lazy to put forth the effort to change my shoes.

I could have written that first paragraph! (well, except my birthstone is green). Lucky for us blue seems to pair well with almost all colors, so we're pretty set :) I think the shoes you chose works great with this outfit. The t-straps go nicely with the flared knee-length skirt. Two thumbs up!

I love those shoes! I think they go with the outfit but they're not too matchy-matchy because they've got texture and are a different shade.

I love that outfit and those shoes. Are they still available at Aldo? What is the name of them? They remind me of some anthro shoes.

I think the shoes go perfectly with the outfit. And I love the monochrome outfit! It's a great idea that I'd like to try. I find I'm always pairing blue with some sort of orange week after week.

Nice outfit! I agree with you about tone-on-tone colour. If ever in doubt, go for the safe option. I tend to reach for a necklace to complete the look too, but think the scarf and shoes work nicely on you here.

While I was reading your post, I was thinking about how much a love your shoes - then I saw you last sentence. Personally, I think they are great! They are supper cool and I like them with all of the blue.

@cee - Thanks! Yes, I almost treat blue as a neutral, which I guess it is in many cases (like navy).

@lisa - I have trouble going in the not matchy direction with shoes. I tend to either have them "match" the outfit or wear the exact same shade in my tights.

@Rachel - They are called Aldo Ardrey and came in grey (mine) and also in black. I got them last year, so I don't know if you'll be able to find them but they do have a similar bootie version out this year: http://www.aldoshoes.com/us/clearance/womens-shoes/heels/80242789-hibbets/16

@Jenn - Ah, orange and blue... that would give me my pop of colour. I'll be trying that soon!

@vintageglammz - Thanks! The shoes and scarf were slightly out of my comfort zone, so I'm glad I did well!

@kristin - Thanks! I was so excited when I bought them last year, but have trouble working them into my winter wardrobe of darker tights. I'm glad you think the shoes work.
