A little springtime...

OOTD Feb 18 2010

Outfit details:

dress - H&M, cardigan - J.Crew, tights - Joe Fresh, necklace - Cleo, boots - Steve Madden

Unlike the last couple of outfit posts, this one is composed entirely of pieces I've acquired in the last year. My goal for today was to break out of the blacks and greys of winter, and play around with a little colour.

I have a lot of trouble with incorporating paler shades into my outfits, although I do love them. I tend to gravitate towards blacks, greys, navy and brown neutrals with bright pops of colour. So when I put on this dress, my first instinct was to pair it with a berry purple jewel tone cardigan. Then this peachy one caught my eye, and I decided to go against the grain and wear it instead.

I'm pleased with the results. I think the peach compliments the green nicely, and makes me feel one step closer to spring. I'm so glad I broke out of my comfort zone today.

What colours do you gravitate towards?

What a great question! If you were to look in my closet right now, you'd see a lot of red and blue. I think I'm less drawn to specific colors, though, and more drawn to the vibrancy of a hue. There are some blues that read very flat and dull and others that really POP! I try to do the brighter ones so I can pair 'em with darker colors and neutrals. Again, great question! :)

what a super happy spring color! This is a lovely outfit.

Other than my favorite neutrals of black, grey, and brown, I tend to go for greens. I think enough people have told me that I look good in them (including the husband), that I figure, why not get more?!

This is such a cheerful spring outfit -- love that you went against your instincts and tried something different.

I gravitate toward neutrals as well as shades of red, purple, orange and dark pink -- colors that make me happy and look pretty good on my skin tone.

What a beautiful dress! I love the blues and greens with the peach.

I tend to gravititate towards green, orange, red, purple and light blue (although my wardrobe doesn't reflect this). One my goals this year is to be more experimental with color.

This combination is so beautiful and soft. I am in love with the dress!

I never realized until I started blogging how much grey I wear. It is totally my go-to color, with lots of brown and black mixed in.

That peach sweater is such a pretty color, and I agree that it goes so well with the green. I never would have thought to pair the two colors, but it makes sense since they go together in nature! :)

There was a time when all I would wear was neutrals and dark colors, but then I started getting into brights, and now I'm even loving some pastels. It makes my wardrobe a lot more fun, for sure.

The peachy cardi looks so good with the print of the dress! I would have gravitated toward purple, though, too.

I tend to wear greys, purples, and reds a lot.
